GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team has seen one of its players named to the 2021 Academic All-District® Team, CoSIDA officials announced Thursday. CoSIDA is the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Junior centerfielder Anna Thomas (Climax, N.C.) was selected to the NCAA Division III District V First Team and is now eligible for Academic All-America® honors. She is the first Wasp to be recognized by CoSIDA since 2018 when then-junior Erin Anderson was tabbed as Academic All-District®.

Thomas, a graduate of Providence Grove High School, led Emory & Henry to a runner-up finish in the Seguin Regional of the NCAA Division III Tournament this spring. Additionally, E&H reached the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament. Thomas was named to the all-tournament teams for both the NCAA Regional and the ODAC Tournament. The Wasps posted a 29-9 overall record and went 13-3 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.

Thomas is one of three players from the ODAC to earn a spot on the all-district team. Kayla Hugate from University of Lynchburg and Hanna Hull from Virginia Wesleyan University were also honored by the members of CoSIDA for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.

CoSIDA's Academic All-America® program has recognized student-athletes for their combined accomplishments on the field and in the classroom since 1952. CoSIDA members nominate and vote for the selection of Academic All-District and All-America performers in 12 sport categories across all divisions of college athletics.
