GAME TWO –

VENUE – Wasps Field
RECORDS – Emory & Henry (13-12, 8-4 SAC); Concord (9-16, 0-4 MEC)

Game One – Concord 1, Emory & Henry 0
Concord got a runner in scoring position with no outs in the top of the first but the E&H defense got out of the trouble. The Wasps had runners on second and third with one out in the second but a pair of strikeouts ended that threat.

Both squads put runners on the basepaths over the course of the next few frames but were unable to string enough offense together to get on the board.

In the top of the seventh, the Mountain Lions saw Rachael Koller generate a lead-off base knock and Imani Campbell swipe a pinch-run base to get to second. Two batters later, Courtney Raines drove in Campbell with a single up the middle. CU threatened to add to their total but a pair of strikeouts completed the frame.

Emory & Henry got a leadoff single by sophomore first baseman Lydia Taylor (Salem, Va.) and back-to-back hit-by-pitches by sophomore MaKayla Dowdy (Blacksburg, Va.) and freshman third baseman Ashlyn Rachon (Greeneville, Tenn.) loaded the bases with the top of the lineup next to bat. The Wasps' offense stalled out and Concord escaped with the 1-0 win.

Caitlyn Bauer earned the shutout for the Mountain Lions, scattering six hits and three walks with nine strikeouts. Junior right-hander Avery Adkins (Goodview, Va.) suffered the loss, allowing one run on six hits with eight strikeouts.

Game Two – Concord 4, Emory & Henry 2
The Wasps posted a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to get on the board. Junior catcher Morgan Silvis (Green Cove Springs, Va.) and Taylor posted a pair of RBI base knocks to give E&H a 2-0 lead.

Concord answered with two runs in the fourth. Lacie Lewis came around to score thanks to a throwing error after a base hit by Sarah Thompson. Thompson was plated on the next at bat when Morgan Cline hit a sacrifice fly to right field, making the score 2-2.

In the fifth, the Mountain Lions gained the advantage. With two outs and runners on second and third Lewis singled through the left side to drive in Campbell while Thompson tallied a RBI base knock for a 4-2 lead. Emory & Henry was only able to manage one base runner in the final four innings as Concord completed the sweep.

CU's Nancy-Jo Roberts earned the complete-game win permitting two runs on six hits with one strikeout. Dowdy was dealt the setback as she allowed three runs on seven hits and one strikeout in five innings pitched.
