ROCK HILL, S.C. – Emory & Henry College's Rachel Hill has been named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week, SAC officials announced Tuesday. This year, the SAC Player of the Week awards are sponsored by WePlayed Sports.

It marks the first time since E&H joined the SAC that one of its softball players has received weekly honors from the league.

The sophomore shortstop went 12-for-14 at the plate, a gaudy .857 batting average, across four wins last week. She had four extra-base hits for a 1.286 slugging average and scored five runs with eight RBI and three stolen bases. Her OPS (on-base plus slugging) percentage went off the charts at 2.143.

Wednesday against Coker, Hill was 5-for-6 with two doubles, a run, a stolen base and three RBI as the Wasps took the doubleheader with a pair of run-rule victories, 8-0 and 11-3.

On Friday against Catawba, the Stanardsville, Va. native was a nearly-perfect 7-for-8 at the plate, with four runs scored, five RBI and a pair of stolen bases. She provided the game-winning base hits in both contests for the thrilling 14-13 and 15-14 wins.

Through 16 conference games, Hill is batting .390 (16-for-41) three doubles, three home runs, 10 runs scored and 16 RBI. She has a .432 on-base percentage and a .683 slugging average.

Emory & Henry will visit No. 11 Wingate University for a SAC doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch between the Wasps and Bulldogs is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
