Troy Taylor is entering his second year as an Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach at Emory & Henry College. His primary responsibilities include the training of the cross country and distance track runners.

Taylor joins the E&H staff after spending the past two seasons at American River College, a junior college in Sacramento, California. The Beavers won the Big 8 Conference and NorCal Region Track & Field Championships in the spring of 2019, placing third in the CCCAA State Championship. Xavier Weaver was the Big 8 Champion in the 800 meters, finishing fourth in the state. In the 1,500 meters, Sebastian Leon led the way at the conference meet as the Beavers took the top four places. Leon was also the NorCal Region Champion in the 1,500. In the fall of 2019, the ARC cross country team picked up Big 8 Conference and NorCal Region championships on its way to a CCCAA State Runner-Up finish.

Prior to his time at American River, Taylor was a volunteer assistant for two seasons at the University of North Texas. He helped coach his former cross country team to its second Conference USA title in five years in 2018 as he mentored under his collegiate head coach, Stefanie Slekis and Kevin Williams.

As an undergraduate, Troy was a multiple All-Conference USA and All-NCAA South Central Region honoree. He was the 2015 C-USA Indoor Track & Field Champion in the 3,000 meters and grabbed runner-up honors in the 1,500 meters at the 2013 Sun Belt Championships and the 2014 Conference USA Championships. Taylor was also named the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year in cross country and led the Mean Green to the 2014 C-USA cross country title. He was also a three-time national qualifier, competing at the 2014 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships and the 2014 and 2015 NCAA Division I West Preliminary Round in the 1,500 meters.

Taylor graduated from UNT in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology. A native of Rhome, Texas, Taylor attended Northwest High School in Justin where he competed in cross country and track & field for Head Coach George Lutkenhaus. He now resides in Emory.
