Guilford Women's Basketball Takes Care Of Emory & Henry, 62-45, Monday In ODAC Action

EMORY, Va. - The Guilford College Women's Basketball Team (3-2, 2-0 ODAC) picked up a 62-45 victory over Emory & Henry College (1-2, 0-2 ODAC) in Old Dominion Athletic Conference Action Monday night at the King Center.

The Wasps and Quakers traded baskets and leads for the first 15-and-a-half minutes of the game to a 21-all tie. Guilford went on a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to take a 31-21 lead that E&H would trim to 31-24 on a three-point basket by junior forward Ashlyn Baird (Boone, N.C.) at the buzzer.

After the break, the Guilford lead remained constant around 10 points until the Quakers scored 13 of the next 17 points to lead by 18 (54-36) at the 7:01 mark. The visitors from Greensboro, N.C., would have as much as a 19-point advantage down the stretch before a late basket by the Wasps.

Guilford placed three players in double figures and was paced by Gabby Oglesby with 13 points and eight rebounds. Jazlyn Gibbs and Jaclyn Nucci added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

E&H was led by Baird with a game-high 16 points, four rebounds and two steals while sophomore guard Jalan McPherson (Jonesville, Va.) had 15 points on six-for-nine shooting from the floor. Junior forward Morgan Grant (Abingdon, Va.) led all players with 11 rebounds for the Wasps.

Emory & Henry will travel to Salem, Va. on Saturday to face Roanoke College. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
