Emory & Henry’s Karina Farr Named ODAC Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College freshman Karina Farr has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Tuesday. It is the first time since December 9, 2009 that a Wasp has earned the honor. Farr also earns the award for the first time in her career.

The Graham, Wash., native led Emory & Henry to a 2-1 week with league wins over Randolph College (69-49) and Shenandoah University (67-58). Farr put up three double-doubles on the week with a career-high 24 points against the Hornets and set a new personal best with 15 rebounds and five steals versus the WildCats. The Wasps are currently leading the league, after having won back-to-back games for the first time since late January 2011.

In six games so far this season, Farr has five double-doubles and is averaging 14.5 points and 12.0 rebounds. She is the only player in the ODAC averaging double figures in both scoring and rebounding. Farr leads the league in rebounding and is sixth in scoring and fourth in free throws made per contest (4.7).

Emory & Henry (3-3, 2-0 ODAC) will host Southern Virginia University on Wednesday and Covenant College on Saturday. Tipoff for both contests is set for a 6:00 p.m.
