DeSales Women’s Basketball Takes Down Emory & Henry, 75-51, Sunday

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The DeSales University Women's Basketball Team (5-4) picked up a 75-51 victory over Emory & Henry College (5-5) Sunday afternoon at Billera Hall.

The Bulldogs got out to a 12-3 lead at the 14:37 mark of the first half. Emory & Henry responded with an 9-2 run to cut the lead to 14-12 with 9:56 to go before the break. DeSales would lead by as much as 16 points (36-20) in the first half as it went on to a 36-22 halftime lead.

After the intermission, the Bulldogs scored six-straight points for a 42-22 advantage. DeSales would end up leading by as much as 25 points (53-28 with 12:04 remaining) before E&H put together a 15-6 run to trim the lead to 16.

DSU was able to push its advantage out to 25 points down the stretch, going on to win, 75-51.

DeSales was led by Colleen Gavin with 22 points and 10 rebounds while Sondrine Glovas had 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Alexiah Grant tallied 12 points as well for the Bulldogs, who shot just 39.2 percent (29-for-74) from the field.

Sophomore guard Jalan McPherson (Jonesville, Va.) had 14 points, hitting a game-high three three-pointers. Sophomore center Carlyta Hamm (Wytheville, Va.) had 10 points while freshman forward Karina Farr (Graham, Wash.) registered eight points and nine rebounds.  The Wasps shot 33.3 percent (19-for-57) for the game, but fell victim to 31 turnovers.

Emory & Henry will next take the court on Thursday, January 3 when it hosts Washington and Lee University at 7:00 p.m.
