Randolph-Macon Women’s Basketball Routs Emory & Henry In Regular Season Finale

ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon College Women's Basketball Team (20-5, 13-3 ODAC) scored 52 points in the second half en route to a 96-56 victory over visiting Emory & Henry College (6-19, 4-12 ODAC) Saturday afternoon at Crenshaw Gymnasium.

The Yellow Jackets got out to a 14-2 lead at the 16:39 mark of the first half. E&H closed the gap to five (16-11) with a 9-2 run but R-MC responded to push the halftime margin to 44-34.

Randolph-Macon scored the first eight points of the second half and extended its lead to 24 (63-39) with 12:53 on the clock. The Wasps would get no closer than 20 points the rest of the way as the Yellow Jackets rolled to a 96-56 win.

R-MC, which shot 35-for-66 (53%) for the game, was paced by Taylor Huber's 23-point performance. Katie Anderson had 19 points and six rebounds while Sarah Parson added 16 points and seven boards. Hannah Livermon tallied 11 poitns three rebounds and three assists off the bench. The Yellow Jackets held a 54-10 advantage on points in the paint and outscored the Wasps, 27-7, on points off turnovers.

Emory & Henry junior guard Kristie Langley (Staley, N.C.) scored a team-high 11 points while senior forward JoBeth Wright (Mooresville, N.C.) had nine points and six rebounds. Four Wasps scored six points in the game led by freshman guard Megan Jacoby (Richmond, Va.), who added two rebounds and four assists. Sophomore guard Tenesha Connor (Greensboro, N.C.) chipped in four points, nine rebounds and four assists as well.

As a team, E&H shot just 27.0 percent (17-for-63) for the game and was just 18-of-31 (58.1%) from the free throw line.

Emory & Henry will next play in the First Round of the 2014 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament. The Wasps will travel to Bridgewater College on Monday evening for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
