Emory & Henry’s Taylor Blevins Named ODAC Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College freshman guard Taylor Blevins has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the first time this year that an E&H player has earned weekly honors from the league.

The Abingdon, Virginia, native led Emory & Henry (15-5, 9-3 ODAC) to a pair of ODAC wins over Hollins University (71-48) and Randolph College (94-57). Blevins put up 26 points against Hollins on Wednesday, going 10-for-13 from the field, and added 15 rebounds and three assists.

Saturday afternoon, Blevins recorded 19 points, hitting 6-of-10 field goal attempts, to go along with 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals against the WildCats. She connected on seven-of-nine free throws as the Wasps rolled to the victory on Senior Day.

Starting all 20 games so far this season, Blevins leads the team in scoring with 13.0 points per game, rebounding (9.5 rpg), field goal percentage (58.8%), and blocks (14). She is second in the ODAC in field goal percentage and third in rebounding as well. The Abingdon High School graduate has reached double figures in scoring 12 times this year and has notched eight double-doubles.

Emory & Henry, which has won six of its last seven games, will host Lynchburg College in a key conference matchup Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The Wasps defeated the Hornets, 61-57, in a come-from-behind effort in their first meeting last month.
