WINCHESTER, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (17-6, 10-4 ODAC) reached the 10-win mark in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play for the first time since the 2004-05 season Saturday with a 60-50 win over Shenandoah University (6-17, 3-11 ODAC). With the victory, the Wasps sit on the cusp of a first-round bye in the ODAC Tournament.

The Hornets got out to a 23-10 lead after the first quarter thanks in part to eight-for-10 (80%) shooting from the field. Emory & Henry stormed back in the second frame, outscoring SU by a 17-2 margin to lead 27-25 at the intermission. Junior guard Asja Jenkins (Richmond, Va.) scored 11 of her game-high 15 points in the opening half, going four-for-seven from the field.

E&H kept the pressure on in the third with a 16-10 advantage to make the score 43-35 with 10 minutes left to play. The Wasps sealed the deal in the fourth thanks in part to a 7-0 run over the span of a minute to go up 50-39. Shenandoah was able to cut the margin to five, 55-50, with 1:27 on the clock, but the final five points of the game would go the way of Emory & Henry for the 60-50 margin.

Jenkins added two rebounds and two assists to her 15 points while junior guard Megan Jacoby (Richmond, Va.) had 13 points, five rebounds and four assists in the game. Freshman guard Taylor Blevins (Abingdon, Va.) tacked on 13 points and seven rebounds while senior forward Karina Farr (Graham, Wash.) notched 10 points and seven boards.

As a team, E&H shot 53.5 percent (23-for-43) from the field and hit 14-of-18 (77.8%) free throw attempts. The Wasps also managed a 29-18 rebounding advantage and led, 20-14, on points in the paint.

Shenandoah's Olivia Callan had 14 points with a trio of three-pointers and four assists. Kirstyn Arcata put up 12 points while Kanesha Foster and Shannon Kuhn added nine and eight points, respectively. The Hornets shot 41.9 percent (18-for-43) from the field, hitting five threes.

Emory & Henry returns home for its final contest at the John Rutledge King Center of the regular season on Wednesday. The Wasps will host the league-leading Guilford College Quakers beginning at 7:00 p.m.
