Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Faces United States Naval Academy In Exhibition Contest Sunday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team had a quick turnaround from Saturday afternoon's Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over Shenandoah to a NCAA Division I Exhibition contest with the United States Naval Academy on Sunday. The Midshipmen earned an 88-57 win over the Wasps in what was the first-ever meeting between the two schools of any kind.

How It Happened
- Navy jumped out to a 24-12 lead at the end of the first period and added seven points to the margin for a 45-26 halftime advantage.
- Emory & Henry posted its best offensive period in the third, scoring 21 points and held the Midshipmen to 15 points in the fourth for the final 88-57 score.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior forward Taylor Blevins (Abingdon, Va.) posted 18 points and six rebounds to lead all scorers while sophomore forward Sydney McKinney (Big Stone Gap, Va.) had 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
- Sophomore forward Kara Stafford (Bristol, Tenn.) put up nine points and five rebounds off the bench while junior forward Laken Blackburn (Wilkesboro, N.C.) added six points.
- Sophomore forward Peyton Williams (Saltville, Va.) notched six assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Navy Individual Leaders
- The Midshipmen were led by Hannah Fenske with 18 points, as she hit four three-point field goals in the contest.
- Taylor Dunham and Morgan Taylor each contributed 12 points with Dunham adding five assists.
- Jasmine Bishop tacked on 11 points and five steals off the bench while Bianca Roach had eight points, six boards and three steals.

A Deeper Look
- Navy shot 45.5 percent (35-for-77) from the field and hit 12 three-pointers while E&H notched a 23-for-51 (45.1%) shooting performance with six made threes.
- The Midshipmen forced the Wasps into 33 turnovers, scoring 29 points and led 44-30 on points in the paint.
- Emory & Henry posted a 37-35 rebounding advantage but 18 offensive boards by Navy translated to 20 second-chance points.

- Emory & Henry will remain on the road on Wednesday when it travels to Bridgewater College for an ODAC contest.
