Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Mary Washington, 66-45, Saturday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (7-2, 1-1 ODAC) made it two wins in as many days with a 66-45 victory over the University of Mary Washington (4-5, 3-1 CAC) Saturday afternoon at home.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry opened up a 7-2 advantage at the 6:09 mark of the first quarter but Mary Washington took the lead, 10-9 with 24 seconds left in the period. The Wasps got a pair of free throws for an 11-10 margin after 10 minutes of play.
- E&H started the second on an 11-3 run to go up 22-13 with 5:48 to go before halftime. UMW went on a 12-2 run to lead 25-24 before E&H scored the last four, going into the locker room with a 28-25 margin.
- The third period saw Emory & Henry take control thanks to an 18-2 scoring spurt which covered six minutes to make the score 50-32. The Wasps would lead, 52-34, at the end of three.
- E&H extended its lead to as much as 24 (58-34) early in the final frame. The Wasps' reserves got some valuable playing time against a strong regional opponent,  as E&H cruised to the 66-45 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior guard Myesha Logan (Roanoke, Va.) led all players with 16 points, going five-for-eight from the field and added five assists while sophomore forward Peyton Williams (Saltville, Va.) notched 10 points, two boards and two steals.
- Junior guard Chloe Harris (Bristol, Va.) put up nine points, three rebounds and three assists with sophomore forward Sydney McKinney (Big Stone Gap, Va.) contributing seven points and three rebounds.
- Sophomore forward Kara Stafford (Bristol, Tenn.) recorded six points, six rebounds and three steals off the bench while junior forward Taylor Blevins (Abingdon, Va.) added six points and seven rebounds.

Mary Washington Individual Leaders
- Tory Martin paced the Eagles with 11 points, hitting seven-of-nine free throws while Jordan Pamlanye and Kendall Parker put up seven points each.  

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry hit 42.4 percent (25-for-59) of its shots with just three three-pointers, going 13-of-21 (61.9%) at the free throw line.
- Mary Washington was cold from the field all afternoon, shooting 12-for-50 (24%). The Eagles made up some ground at the charity stripe, hitting 78.3 percent (18-of-23) of their uncontested shots.
- E&H led 38-10 on points in the paint and scored 29 points off 25 UMW turnovers.  The Wasps also boasted an 18-0 advantage on the fast break.
- The Eagles had a 41-38 rebounding advantage which translated into the smallest of margins (8-7) on second-chance points.

- Emory & Henry will travel to Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia for a pair of games in the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Classic.
