Oglethorpe Women’s Basketball Takes Care Of Emory & Henry, 72-52, Tuesday Afternoon

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Oglethorpe University Women's Basketball Team (7-3, 1-0 SAA) shot 50.9 percent for the game as it earned a 72-52 win over Emory & Henry College (8-3, 1-1 ODAC) in the final day of the Holiday Inn and Suites Classic.

How It Happened
- Oglethorpe scored the first eight points of the game and used a 13-0 run to take a 25-6 lead with 3:17 to go in the opening period. The Stormy Petrels would hold a 28-10 margin after 10 minutes of action.
- The Wasps closed the margin down to 37-25 with 3:23 left before halftime thanks to a 13-5 run which covered 4:07. OU would lead 43-29 at the intermission.
- Oglethorpe scored the first six points coming out of the break to get its lead out to 20 (49-29) with 8:41 on the clock. The Wasps closed the margin down to 52-41 thanks to a 12-3 run but the Stormy Petrels pushed their advantage back to 14 (61-47) with one period to play.
- Emory & Henry would get within 12 early in the fourth quarter but OU kept control as it pulled away for the 72-52 victory.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore forward Peyton Williams (Saltville, Va.) had 12 points to lead Emory & Henry while junior guard Chloe Harris (Bristol, Va.) added 10 points.
- Junior forward Taylor Blevins (Abingdon, Va.) notched six points and four rebounds while sophomore forward Kara Stafford (Bristol, Tenn.) and junior guard Tessa Johnston (High Point, N.C.) tacked on six points each.

Oglethorpe Individual Leaders
- Jada Triplett led all players with 22 points, hitting three three-pointers and added four assists while Savannah LeGate tacked on 13 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double.
- Lauren Ransom and Bailey Charles contributed 10 points each to the Stormy Petrels' cause.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 30.4 percent (14-for-46) with four three-pointers and hit 19-of-28 (67.9%) of their free throws.
- Oglethorpe went 27-for-53 (50.9%) for the game with eight three-pointers, including seven in the first half.
- OU held a 38-26 advantage on rebounding and a 30-16 margin on points in the paint.
- The Petrels scored 26 points off 24 Wasp turnovers while E&H counted 17 points off 25 Oglethorpe miscues.
