EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (21-3, 14-3 ODAC) opened up a 24-5 lead after the opening period and never looked back as it solidified the number two seed in next week's Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament with a 73-46 win over Hollins University (7-17, 3-14 ODAC) Wednesday evening at home.

How It Happened
- The Wasps stormed out to a 15-0 lead at the 4:35 mark of the opening period and never looked back as they pushed the lead to 19 (24-5) at the end of the first 10 minutes of play.
- HU matched E&H in the second quarter as the two squads went into the locker room with Emory & Henry leading, 39-21.
- In the third, the Wasps quickly pressed their advantage to 28 with a 13-3 run and would double Hollins' score with one quarter to play, 62-31.
- Emory & Henry was once again able to get everyone who suited up substantial minutes as 14 of 16 players inked their name in the scoring column. The Wasps' largest advantage would come as a 35-point margin (66-31) with 9:14 left to play as they cruised to the 73-46 victory.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior forward Sydney McKinney (Big Stone Gap, Va.) put up a team-high 13 points on five-for-seven shooting while senior guard Tessa Johnston (High Point, N.C.) had 11 points, two assists and two steals.
- Senior guard Chloe Harris (Bristol, Va.) had eight points, two rebounds and two assists while junior Kara Stafford (Bristol, Tenn.)added seven points and three rebounds.

Hollins Individual Leaders
- Kayla Surles led all players with 16 points and five assists while Keenan Surles had 11 points.
- Keyazia Taylor went for six points, 10 rebounds and six blocks on the night.

 A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry went 28-for-64 (43.8%) for the game with nine three-pointers. The Wasps shot just 61.5 percent (8-for-13) at the free throw line.
- Hollins made just 34 percent (16-of-47) of its shots with six connections from long range. HU was an efficient 8-for-10 (80%) from the stripe.
- E&H held a 41-26 rebounding advantage and a 16-7 margin on the offensive glass. The Wasps led 36-16 on points in the paint and 23-5 on fast-break points.
- Emory & Henry took advantage of 18 Hollins turnovers, scoring 27 points on its ensuing possessions.
- The Wasp bench once again proved to be effective, outscoring its green-and-gold counterpart, 37-5.

- Emory & Henry will conclude the regular season on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., when it hosts Bridgewater College.
