Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Steady At Sixth In The South Region

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the third-straight week, the Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball team is the number six-ranked program in the NCAA Division III South Region, NCAA officials announced Wednesday. While the same nine teams from last week are in the rankings, only the Wasps hold at their previous spot.

This ranking, combined with automatic bids awarded to conference champions, is the official means of selecting and pairing participants for NCAA postseason tournaments. This is the final ranking which will be released prior to the selection of 64-team field for 2020 NCAA Division III Tournament. There will be a final set of regional rankings released after the tournament bracket is revealed.

E&H remains the only program in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference to be listed as one of the top nine squads in the South. It is the 13th-straight period that the Wasps have been ranked in the Region and the 16th time dating back to the 2015-16 season.

Trinity (Texas) University leaps to No. 1 in the South while Oglethorpe University completes the swap to take the No. 2 ranking. The University of Texas-Dallas and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor each move up one spot to third and fourth while William Peace University is fifth. Emory University returns to the No. 7 position after spending last week at No. 8 while East Texas Baptist University (eighth) and Austin College (ninth) round out the group.

Emory & Henry (21-4, 15-3 ODAC) is the #1 seed in this week's ODAC Tournament, and will take on eighth-seeded University of Lynchburg on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
