Lincoln Memorial Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Emory & Henry Tuesday

EMORY, Va. – The Lincoln Memorial University Women's Basketball Team (3-4) shot 63 percent in the second half on its way to an 80-38 win over Emory & Henry College (3-3) Tuesday evening in a matchup of future South Atlantic Conference opponents.

How It Happened
- The Lady Railsplitters jumped out to a 9-2 lead at the 4:12 mark of the opening period and never looked back. E&H was able to match LMU through the remainder of the first to a 16-8 score after 10 minutes of play. Lincoln Memorial outscored Emory & Henry by a 17-4 margin in the second, going into the locker room with a 33-12 advantage.
- Returning to action, the Lady Railsplitters pushed the margin to 28 (42-14) with a 9-2 run to open the third quarter. E&H used a 9-0 run later in the frame, closing the gap to 20 before back-to-back baskets by LMU made it 51-27 with on period to play.
- In the fourth, Lincoln Memorial started out on a 15-2 run as part of a larger 21-5 scoring spurt to extend the lead to 40 (72-32) on its way to the 80-38 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman forward Chelsi Hodges (Boone, N.C.) led the Wasps with 11 points off the bench, adding three rebounds, an assist and a block.
- Sophomore guard Taylor Owens (Bristol, Tenn.) went for eight points and three boards while freshman forward Grace Glance (Clyde, N.C.) had seven points and five rebounds.

Lincoln Memorial Individual Leaders
- Mikayla Kuehne paced the Lady Railsplitters with 17 points, five rebounds and six steals while Lauren Flowers scored 12 points and pulled down five boards off the bench.
- Grace Day contributed 11 points and six rebounds as Shaquala Walton notched 10 points and two assists.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot just 29.4 percent (15-for-51) for the game including 16.7 percent (3-for-18) from long range. The Wasps went 5-for-7 (71.4%) at the free throw line.
- Lincoln Memorial made 29-of-62 (46.8%) of its shots including 63 percent (17-for-27) in the second half. The Lady Railsplitters notched nine three-pointers and were a perfect 13-for-13 at the charity stripe.
- LMU held a 41-28 rebounding advantage and outscored E&H by a 32-22 margin on points in the paint.
- The Lady Railsplitters took advantage of 25 Wasp miscues, outscoring them 26-13 on points off turnovers.
