Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Routs North Greenville, 74-49, Tuesday On The Road

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (6-7) picked up a 74-49 win against North Greenville University (3-7) Tuesday afternoon. The Wasps outscored the Crusaders by a 40-25 margin in the second half on their way to the victory.

How It Happened
- E&H scored the first six points of the contest, running the margin to 11-3 at the 4:04 mark of the opening period. The Wasps would lead, 15-9, through 10 minutes.
- In the second, the Crusaders closed the gap to 20-17, but an 11-2 run by the Wasps made it 31-19 with just under two minutes to go before the half. Emory & Henry carried a 34-24 margin into the locker room.
- Coming out of the break, the Wasps opened on a 14-3 run to push their advantage past 20 points (48-27) for the first time. E&H continued to build its lead, going into the final frame up by a 58-34 score.
- The fourth quarter saw Emory & Henry lead by as much as 31 as 10 different players put their marks in the scoring column on the way to a 74-49 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior center Alexis Hoppers (Sparta, N.C.) posted a double-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and two assists while freshman forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) went for 12 points, eight boards and two blocks.
- Freshman guard Hannah Spainhour (King, N.C.) scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds off the bench while sophomore guard Taylor Owens (Bristol, Tenn.) tacked on seven points, four rebounds and two assists.
- Senior guard Callie Haderer (Bristol, Va.) notched seven points and seven rebounds as well for the Wasps.

North Greenville Individual Leaders
- Abi Oates led the Crusaders, scoring 16 points and adding seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks as Jayda Glass put up 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
- Tabitha Littlefield went for five points, six rebounds and three blocks.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry hit 43.5 percent (30-for-69) of its field goal attempts with a trio of makes from long range. The Wasps went 11-for-14 (78.6%) at the free throw line.
- North Greenville shot just 15-for-72 (20.8%) for the game but made seven three-pointers. The Crusaders were 12-for-24 (50%) from the stripe.
- E&H held a 58-32 advantage on the boards and led NGU, 20-4, on second-chance points.
- The Wasps also dominated the scoring down low, 46-10, on points in the paint.

- Emory & Henry will host Bluefield University on Tuesday, January 11 at 5:00 p.m. The contest will be the first of a doubleheader with the Wasps' men's team.
