Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Blows Out Warren Wilson, 78-36, Monday Evening

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (9-11) saw all 14 players who dressed put their name in the scoring column as it defeated Warren Wilson College (5-13) by a 78-36 score Monday at home.

How It Happened
- E&H jumped out to a 9-2 lead at the 5:14 mark of the opening period and finished on a 10-2 run for a 26-10 advantage through 10 minutes of play. In the second, the two teams traded baskets as the Wasps extended their lead to 37-18 at the half.
- After a WWC layup to start the third quarter, Emory & Henry went on an 11-2 run to make it a 26-point game at 48-22. Twelve straight points by the Wasps covering a four-minute span between the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth ran the margin to 36 (63-27). E&H continued to pull away, leading by as many as 44 points on its way to the 78-36 victory.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) led all players with 10 points, adding four rebounds and two steals while freshman guard Macy McClellan (Kingsport, Tenn.) had nine points, five rebounds and four assists.
- Senior center Alexis Hoppers (Sparta, N.C.) put up nine points and three rebounds as freshman forward Grace Glance (Clyde, N.C.) went for eight points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

Warren Wilson Individual Leaders
- Kana Parker paced the Owls with nine points off the bench to go along with two rebounds and two steals while Cartherine Causby had seven points, 10 rebounds and two steals.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 25-for-67 (37.3%) for the game with seven three-pointers. The Wasps made 75 percent (21-of-28) of their free throws on the night.
- Warren Wilson made just 20.6 percent (14-of-68) of its field goal attempts and was 0-for-17 from beyond the arc. The Owls struggled at the line, making just 8-of-17 (47.1%) of their free throws.
- E&H held a 58-45 rebounding advantage and a 14-6 margin on second-chance points.
- The Wasps outscored the Owls, 22-5, on points off turnovers and 12-2 on fastbreak points.
