Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Defeats Salem, 86-79, Saturday On The Road

SALEM, W.Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (12-11) picked up an 86-79 win over Salem (W.Va.) University (6-12) on Saturday. The Wasps avenge a January 15 loss to the Tigers with the victory as six different players reached double figures in scoring.

How It Happened
- E&H stormed out to a 14-4 lead at the 5:54 mark of the opening period and led, 21-12, through 10 minutes of action.
- In the second, the Tigers used a 12-0 run to tie the contest at 26 points apiece, but E&H bounced back to hold a 32-31 advantage at the intermission.
- Coming out of the break, the two teams traded baskets through the entirety of the third quarter with the Wasps closing on a 5-2 run for a 58-all tie with one period to play.
- Salem extended its lead to five (63-58) with 8:54 left in the contest and went up by a 70-63 margin with 6:10 to go. Trailing by eight, Emory & Henry scored 12 of the next 14 points for a 77-75 lead with 3:08 remaining. After the Tigers scored four in a row to go back ahead, the Wasps finished the contest on a 9-0 run for the 86-79 victory.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior guard Brylee Jones (Greeneville, Tenn.) posted a team-high 15 points to go along with four rebounds and seven assists while freshman forward Grace Glance (Clyde, N.C.) had a double-double with 13 points and 19 rebounds.
- Freshman forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) notched a double-double of her own with 13 points, 11 rebounds and two steals as freshman guard Hannah Spainhour (King, N.C.) went for 13 points and five boards off the bench.
- Senior guard Callie Haderer (Bristol, Va.) totaled 11 points as junior guard Amaya Lee (Bristol, Va.) went for 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Salem (W.Va.) Individual Leaders
- Kalyne Daniels led all players with 18 points, chipping in five steals, two rebounds and two assists as Daniela Quesada notched 16 points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists.
- Nerea Arambarri Fer put up 11 points, seven boards and five assists while Allysa McRae contributed 10 points off the bench.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 46.8 percent (29-for-62) with six three-pointers. The Wasps made 22-of-27 (81.5%) of their free throw attempts.
- Salem (W.Va.) hit 28-of-78 (35.9%) of its field goal attempts including eight threes. The Tigers went 65.2 percent (15-of-23) from the charity stripe.
- E&H held a 55-33 rebounding advantage and a 34-32 margin on points in the paint.
