Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Receives Special Recognition For Academic Success

LILBURN, Ga. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team is a team of special mention for its success in the classroom during the 2021-22 academic year, WBCA officials announced this week. The WBCA is the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

The recognition came as part of the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. For the first time this year, programs outside the top 25 of their respective divisions but still eligible to be recognized with at least a 3.0 grade-point average were given "Special Mention" designation.

Emory & Henry was one of 79 NCAA Division II programs to be listed with a 3.611 Team GPA from the 2021-22 academic year. The Wasps were one of five programs from the Southeast Region to receive the designation and were just outside of the Top 25 with the 29th-best grade-point average in Division II.

Emory & Henry went 13-12 during its first season as a NCAA Division II member. The Wasps played a pair of schools which reached the national tournament – 2022 South Atlantic Conference Tournament Champion Carson-Newman University and 2021 Division II National Semifinalist Lander University.
