Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Faces Radford In Exhibition Thursday Evening

RADFORD, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (0-0, 0-0 SAC) faced off against NCAA Division I opponent Radford University (1-1, 0-0 Big South) on Thursday evening in an exhibition matchup. The Highlanders won the game by a 68-39 scoreline.

How It Happened
- The Wasps took the lead early in the first quarter and held the 7-3 advantage with 4:08 remaining. The Highlanders would end the opening stanza on a 13-2 run to hold a 16-9 lead at the end of one.
- Radford would extend their lead in the second quarter, pushing the margin to 26-14 at the media timeout. The Wasps traded buckets throughout the remainder of the opening half and the score stood at 37-24 heading into the halftime break.
- The third stanza was an evenly-contested affair as the two squads continued to trade scores. The Highlanders outscored E&H by just three points and took a 50-34 advantage into the final quarter.
- Attrition and depth finally paid off for Radford in the fourth, as they were able to extend their lead and put the game away by the final score of 68-39.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Redshirt freshman forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) had nine points, eight rebounds and three steals in her first appearance as a Wasp. Sophomore forward Grace Glance (Clyde, N.C.) added six points, a team-high 11 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal.
- Sophomore forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) contributed five points, seven rebounds and assist while sophomore guard Mimi Traynham (Richmond, Va.) had six points, a rebound and an assist.

Radford Individual Leaders
- Ashlyn Traylor had a game-high 21 points, six rebounds, two assists, four steals and a block while Carmen Williams added 11 points, four rebounds, two steals and an assist.
- Rachel LaLonde had a game-high 13 rebounds in addition to nine points, three steals and an assist.

A Deeper Look
- Radford shot 38.2 percent (26-for-68) from the field while Emory & Henry made 16-of-64 (24.6%) of their shots. The home team hit five three-pointers in the contest, compared to three for the Wasps.
- The Highlanders held a 51-44 rebounding advantage and a 38-12 lead on points in the paint.
