Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Routs North Greenville, 80-53, Tuesday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (2-1) got out to a 19-5 lead through the first period on its way to an 80-53 drubbing of North Greenville University (0-6) Tuesday evening at home.

How It Happened
- E&H raced out to a 14-0 lead at the 3:42 mark of the opening quarter. The Wasps and Crusaders each scored five points to a 19-5 margin through 10 minutes of play.
- In the second, Emory & Henry scored the first 10 points to push the lead out to 29-5 with 6:33 on the clock. The Crusaders closed the gap to 16 thanks to a 10-2 run that covered nearly five minutes. E&H scored four of the final five points of the half, going into the locker room up by a 35-16 score.
- The two teams traded baskets through the majority of the third period. Leading 53-35, the Wasps closed the period on a 4-0 run.
- In the fourth, Emory & Henry extended its lead to 30 (69-39) with a 12-4 run, going up by as much as 34 in the final two minutes. NGU scored the final seven points of the contest for the 80-53 margin.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior guard Brylee Jones (Greeneville, Tenn.) notched a game-high 17 points with three rebounds while redshirt freshman forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) had 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
- Sophomore forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) went for 10 points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals while sophomore forward Grace Glance (Clyde, N.C.) posted four points, nine rebounds and six assists.

North Greenville Individual Leaders
- Jayda Glass led the Crusaders with 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals while Hannah Wiles added 11 points and three boards off the bench.
- Mia Wysong posted 10  points and four rebounds.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 50.9 percent (27-for-53) for the game with six three-pointers. The Wasps made 20-of-23 (87.0%) of their free throws as 10 of the 11 players who suited up found their way into the scoring column.
- North Greenville made just 18-of-60 (30%) of its shots including five from long range. The Crusaders went 12-for-16 (75%) at the charity stripe.
- E&H held a 43-27 rebounding advantage and outscored NGU by a 36-26 margin on points in the paint. The Wasps made the most of 19 Crusader errors to lead, 23-11, on points off turnovers.
- Emory & Henry also posted a 27-2 lead on fast-break points.
