Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Faces Wofford In Exhibition Monday Evening

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (3-4) played its second and final exhibition game of the season on Monday evening, facing off against Wofford College (7-2). The Wasps battled their NCAA Division I opponent for a full 40 minutes with the Terriers taking a 76-54 victory.

How It Happened
- Wofford jumped out to a 9-2 lead at the 6:49 mark of the opening period. The Terriers added a 12-3 run later in the quarter to extend their advantage to 21-9. E&H scored the final bucket of the first to make it a 21-12 contest. The two squads went head-to-head in the second with E&H scoring six of the final 10 points on their way to a 43-33 Terrier halftime margin.
- In the third, Wofford opened on a 12-2 to make it a 20-point game at 55-35 with 6:13 on the clock. The Terriers would lead, 64-45, with 10 minutes left to play. The fourth quarter saw E&H and Wofford go back and forth for the final 76-54 Terrier victory.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore guard Hannah Spainhour (King, N.C.) led the Wasps with 17 points and four rebounds off the bench while senior guard Taylor Owens (Bristol, Tenn.) added 11 points and three boards.
- Sophomore guard Macy McClellan (Kingsport, Tenn.) added five points, three rebounds and two assists as sophomore forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) pitched in four points, eight rebounds and two assists.  

Wofford Individual Leaders
- Lilly Hatton put up a game-high 23 points and four rebounds with Jackie Carman tacking on 14 points, and four boards.
- Helen Matthews contributed 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals as Rachael Rose scored eight points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 39.6 percent (21-for-53) for the game with six three-pointers. The Wasps went 6-for-10 (60%) at the free throw line.
- Wofford posted a 29-for-71 (40.8%) from the field with 11 makes from long range. The Terriers were 77.8 percent (7-for-9) from the charity stripe.
- The two squads tied on the boards at 35-apiece, however Wofford pulled down 13 offensive rebounds on its way to a 20-8 lead on second-chance points.
- The Terriers forced 20 Wasp turnovers, gaining a 21-6 advantage on the possessions following miscues.
- E&H's bench outscored its Wofford counterpart by a 41-20 margin.
