ROCK HILL, S.C. – Emory & Henry College redshirt-freshman forward Breanna Yarber has been selected as the Varsity Gems South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, SAC officials announced Monday.
The Meadowview, Virginia native averaged 23.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as the Wasps returned to action following their Winter Break last week. She shot 70.4 percent (19-for-27) from the field and was 9-for-12 (75%) from the free throw line across two games.
Yarber started the week with 20 points, four rebounds, two steals and an assist in an 81-70 setback to Concord University on Monday.
She put the squad on her shoulders on Wednesday, scoring 27 points on 10-for-13 shooting and a 7-for-7 performance at the free throw line. Yarber completed the double-double with 10 rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal as the Wasps torched Mars Hill University by a 95-68 margin.
The 27 points scored is the most this year by an E&H player and the most since then-senior Sydney McKinney dropped 30 points against Randolph-Macon College in the ODAC Tournament Semifinals on February 29, 2020.
Emory & Henry will be on the road for its next three games, visiting Limestone University (Wednesday, 5:30 p.m.) and No. 12 Lenoir-Rhyne University (Saturday, 2:00 p.m.) this week.
