Limestone Women’s Basketball Handles Emory & Henry, 74-58, Wednesday In SAC Play

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Limestone University Women's Basketball Team (8-9, 3-3 SAC) avenged an early-season loss to Emory & Henry College (6-8, 3-3 SAC) on Wednesday evening, topping the Wasps by a 74-58 margin.

How It Happened
- The Saints got out to a 7-3 lead at the 7:07 mark of the opening period but eight in a row by the Wasps made it an 11-7 contest with 2:44 on the clock. Limestone closed with five straight to hold a 12-11 advantage through 10 minutes of action.
- In the second, the two squads traded baskets early before LU put together a 13-4 run to go into the locker room up 31-23.
- Returning to action, Limestone scored 12 of the first 14 points to push the margin to 43-25 at the 7:00 mark of the third quarter. Emory & Henry then went on a 14-5 run to trim the deficit to nine (48-38) with under two minutes to go as the Saints took a 56-41 tally into the final stanza.
- The Wasps again got within nine early in the fourth but the lead was too much to overcome as Limestone cruised to the 74-58 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Redshirt freshman forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) dropped 32 points on the evening to tie for third all-time in points in a game, going 12-for-22 from the field including a perfect 3-for-3 performance from beyond the arc. She also added eight rebounds.
- Sophomore forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) notched eight points, 10 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals while senior guard Amaya Lee (Bristol, Va.) had five points and two boards.

Limestone Individual Leaders
- Quin Byrd put up a team-high 26 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists and two steals while Shariah Gaddy notched 13 points and three boards off the bench.
- Kalisha Hill generated a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds while Reagan McCray had 17 points and six assists.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry made 38.5 percent (20-for-52) of its field goals with five triples. The Wasps went 13-for-21 (61.9%) from the free throw line.
- Limestone was 25-for-66 (37.9%) from the for the game but connected on 13 three-pointers. The Saints hit 73.3 percent (11-of-15) of their free throw attempts.
- E&H held a 40-38 rebounding advantage and a 7-5 margin on second-chance points.
- LU took advantage of 17 Wasp errors to lead 14-7 on points off turnovers.
