MARS HILL, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (7-11, 4-6 SAC) erased a 21-point second-quarter deficit and outscored Mars Hill University (4-13, 0-9 SAC) by 16 points it the fourth to complete the comeback and earn a 65-61 South Atlantic Conference win Wednesday evening.

How It Happened
- The two teams traded the first 10 points of the game to a 5-5 tie at the 7:54 mark of the opening period. Mars Hill's offense then began to fire on all cylinders, going on a 14-2 run to lead, 19-7.
- In the second, the Lions went on a 13-6 run to extend their advantage to 38-17 with 4:35 on the clock. E&H finally got going and closed the gap to 13 (43-30) at the half thanks to a 13-5 scoring spurt.
- The two teams went shot for shot in the third with an 8-2 run by the Wasps drawing the margin to 10 (53-43). The Lions made the final two free throws of the period to take a 12-point lead into the last period.
- Mars Hill scored the first three points of the frame and went cold as Emory & Henry scored 17 in a row to take a 60-58 advantage with 3:11 to play. A three-point basket put the Lions back on top momentarily, but the final five points went the way of the Wasps as they completed the comeback for a 65-61 win.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) posted a game-high 19 points and completed her double-double with 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- Redshirt freshman forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) notched 18 points, five boards, three blocks, two steals and an assist with senior guard Brylee Jones (Greeneville, Tenn.) going for 10 points, six rebounds and two assists, scoring all 10 in the fourth.
Mars Hill Individual Leaders
- Naja Ngongba led the Lions as she went 7-for-10 from the field for 17 points and two rebounds while Jo Snow had 15 points, six assists and four boards.
- Maddie Gillie added 12 points, five rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry hit 25-of-66 (37.9%) of its field goals and went 50 percent (7-for-14) in the fourth period. The Wasps were 11-for-15 (73.3%) from the line.
- Mars Hill started the contest 9-for-12 (75%) including six of its first seven three-pointers (85.7%). The Lions cooled off to finish 43.8 percent (21-for-48) but still managed to connect on 11 triples.
- E&H held a 39-34 rebounding advantage and pulled down 17 offensive board when it translated to at 15-5 lead on second-chance points.
- The Wasps outscored the Lions, 36-16, on points in the paint and made the most of 22 MHU mistakes for a 24-15 lead on points off turnovers.
