Coker Women’s Basketball Pulls Away From Emory & Henry, 95-74, Saturday Afternoon

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker University Women's Basketball Team (7-12, 2-9 SAC) broke open a five-point halftime contest with a 51-35 second half on its way to a 95-74 win over visiting Emory & Henry College (7-12, 4-7 SAC) Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The two squads battled to an 8-8 tie at the 7:26 mark of the opening quarter. The Cobras scored the next eight on their way to a 23-11 advantage. E&H finished the period on an 11-3 run to close the gap to 25-22.
- In the second, Coker started on a 6-2 run to extend the margin to 31-24. The two teams went back and forth with the Cobras going into the locker room leading, 44-39.
- Leading 55-49 late in the third, Coker closed on an 11-6 run to lead 66-55 going into the final 10 minutes of the contest.
- The Cobras posted a 13-4 run to extend their lead to 85-64 with 5:37 to play as they rolled to the 95-74 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) had 24 points, two rebounds and two steals while sophomore forward Grace Glance (Clyde, N.C.) went for 13 points and three rebounds off the bench.
- Senior guard Brylee Jones (Greeneville, Tenn.) posted eight points, six assists and five rebounds with redshirt freshman forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) adding eight points and two rebounds.
- Senior guard Taylor Owens (Bristol, Tenn.) and sophomore forward Chelsi Hodges (Boone, N.C.) each tacked on seven points off the bench.

Coker Individual Leaders
Dasia Lambert had 23 points, four assists, four steals and three rebounds with Valicia Demeritte putting up 23 points and five rebounds.
- Abigail Keesling recorded 19 points and two rebounds with Dominique Rodriguez adding 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 46.6 percent (27-for-58) with eight makes from long range. The Wasps were a white-hot 12-for-13 (92.3%) at the free throw line.
- Coker made 33-of-62 (53.2%) of its attempts and scorched the net from downtown with 13 triples. The Cobras were also nearly automatic at the charity stripe, going 16-for-17 (94.1%).
- CU held a 39-21 rebounding advantage and used 17 offensive boards to lead 21-10 on second-chance points.
- E&H led 30-20 on points in the paint but Coker notched a 27-10 margin on points off turnovers.
