Lincoln Memorial Women’s Basketball Defeats Emory & Henry, 80-64, Wednesday In SAC Contest

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial University Women's Basketball Team (14-9, 7-7 SAC) saw six players reach double figures in scoring as it avenged an early-season loss to Emory & Henry College (7-15, 4-10 SAC) Wednesday evening in South Atlantic Conference action. The Lady Railsplitters took the contest by an 80-64 margin.

How It Happened
- E&H started the game with a 6-0 lead and after trading baskets with LMU, went ahead 13-8 with 6:07 on the clock. The Lady Railsplitters responded with a 16-4 run to lead 24-17 through one period.
- The Wasps closed the gap to two (32-30) thanks in part to a 9-2 run in the middle of the second. Lincoln Memorial responded by going into the locker room with an 11-2 scoring spurt for the 43-32 halftime lead.
- Returning to action, LMU scored 11 of the first 17 points of the third quarter to run their lead to 16 at 54-38 (5:47). The Wasps answered with six in a row to make it a 10-point game but the Lady Railsplitters extended their lead to 17 at 66-49 with 10 minutes to play.
- The two squads traded baskets in the fourth with Emory & Henry unable to get any closer than 13 points. LMU cruised to the 80-64 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Redshirt freshman forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) led all players with 21 points and added seven rebounds and six blocks while senior guard Brylee Jones (Greeneville, Tenn.) notched 12 points, two rebounds and two assists.
- Sophomore forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) had eight points, six rebounds and two assists with senior guard Amaya Lee (Bristol, Va.) going for seven points, eight assists, five rebounds and three steals.
- Senior guard Taylor Owens (Bristol, Tenn.) finished the contest with six points and six boards off the bench.

Lincoln Memorial Individual Leaders
- Alexis Schultz put up a team-high 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds while Geovana Rios went for a double-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and two steals.
- Saquita Joyner scored 16 points and had seven rebounds while Jordan Maney added 12 points three boards and two assists.
- Alexa Smiddy and Lauren Flowers posted 11 and 10 points, respectively, with Smitty chipping in five assists, four rebounds and three steals.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry made 23-of-58 (39.7%) of its shots, hitting five triples. The Wasps were 81.3 percent (13-for-16) from the free throw line.
- Lincoln Memorial shot 40.5 percent (30-of-74) for the game, connecting on 12 triples. The Lady Railsplitters struggled at the stripe, going just 8-for-15 (53.5%).
- LMU Held a 46-36 rebounding advantage and used 15 offensive boards to post a 16-7 lead on second-chance points.
- The Lady Railsplitters scored 15 points of 18 Wasp turnovers and also notched a 36-28 margin on points in the paint.

- Emory & Henry will be off on Saturday due to its scheduled open date. The Wasps will return home next Wednesday to host the University of Virginia's College at Wise at 5:30 p.m. The contest with the Cavaliers will also serve as E&H's annual Play4Kay game and fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of cancer awareness.
