Anderson Women’s Basketball Downs Emory & Henry, 82-64, Saturday In SAC Action

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University Women's Basketball Team (13-3, 5-3 SAC) saw four players reach double figures in scoring on its way to an 82-64 win over visiting Emory & Henry College (8-9, 3-6 SAC) Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
- AU jumped out to a 9-4 lead at the 8:04 mark of the opening quarter but a 12-4 run by the Wasps gave them a 16-13 advantage three minutes later. Emory & Henry closed the frame with 10 of the last 12 points to lead, 26-19.
- In the second, Anderson started on a 15-4 run to retake the lead, 34-30, midway through the quarter. E&H battled back ahead, 37-36, momentarily before the Trojans scored seven in a row going into the break with a 43-37 advantage.
- Anderson returned to action with an 11-2 run, pressing their margin out to 15 (54-39) with 6:54 on the clock. The Trojans stretched the lead to as much as 22 later in the period as they led, 69-48, with 10 minutes left to play.
- The Wasps started the fourth with an 8-2 run to close the gap to 16 but would get no closer as the Trojans cruised to the 82-64 win.

Emory & Henry Leaders
- Junior forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) led the Wasps with a double-double, going for 16 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks.
- Junior center Chelsi Hodges (Boone, N.C.) went 6-for-6 from the field, scoring 13 points off the bench while junior guard Hannah Spainhour (King, N.C.) notched nine points and five assists.
- Freshman forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) put up eight points and five boards while junior forward Grace Glance (Clyde, N.C.) chipped in eight points, nine rebounds and two steals off the bench.

Anderson Individual Leaders
- Diamond McDowell posted a double-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocks while Nelliah Wilson had a double-double of her own, chipping in 18 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks.
- Brittney Stafford went for 14 points and two assists as Peytyn Oliver had 10 points off the bench.
- Zamiya Passmore dished out 14 assists with six rebounds, five points and five steals.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry made 42 percent (26-of-61) of their field goals with six makes from three-point range. The Wasps were a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
- Anderson shot 31-for-79 (39%) for the game with eight three-pointers. The Trojans hit 80 percent (12-of-15) of their attempts from the free throw line.
- AU held a 46-40 rebounding advantage, pulling down 19 offensive boards. The Trojans outscored the Wasps, 21-7, on second-chance points.
- The two teams were evenly matched on points in the paint with Anderson holding a slight 36-32 edge.
