Lincoln Memorial Women’s Basketball Defeats Emory & Henry, 82-72, Wednesday Evening

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial University Women's Basketball Team (13-6, 8-5 SAC) broke open a two-point game at halftime to pull away from Emory & Henry College (9-13, 4-10 SAC) for an 82-72 win in South Atlantic Conference play Wednesday.

How It Happened
- The two squads battled to an 11-all tie at the 3:32 mark of the opening period before a 9-2 run by the Wasps covering 1:58 gave them an 18-13 advantage. LMU close the gap to 20-18 at the end of the frame.
- Early in the second, Emory & Henry pressed the margin to seven (27-20) on a three-point basket by freshman guard Rhyan Harris (Salem, Va.) with 6:06 on the clock. The Lady Railsplitters finished the half on a 15-6 run to lead, 35-33, at the intermission.
- Returning to action, Lincoln Memorial scored 13 of the first 17 points of the third to go ahead, 48-37. The teams went shot-for-shot for the remainder of the quarter with Emory & Henry scoring seven of the final 10 to cut the deficit to seven (58-51) with 10 minutes to play.
- The Wasps closed the gap to five with the first bucket of the fourth but the Lady Railsplitters responded to extend the lead to as much as 13 down the stretch thanks in part to an 8-2 run that covered 1:40. E&H was able to get within 10 in the closing minute for the final 82-72 score.

Emory & Henry Leaders
- Junior forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) led the Wasps with 25 points, going 10-for-16 from the field, with six rebounds, three assists and three steals while junior guard Hannah Spainhour (King, N.C.) added 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals.
- Junior forward Grace Glance (Clyde, N.C.) posted 12 points, seven rebounds and two steals with junior center Chelsi Hodges (Boone, N.C.) putting up nine points and two boards. Junior guard Mimi Traynham (Richmond, Va.) tacked on five points and nine assists.

Lincoln Memorial Individual Leaders
- Lauren Flowers led all players with 35 points, hitting 13 field goals, four rebounds and three assists while Jordan Maney put up 12 points, three rebounds and two assists.
- Chloe Savage tallied 11 points, six rebounds, three steals and two blocks while Alexa Smiddy notched 11 points, three steals, two rebounds and two assists.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry went 28-for-59 (47.5%) from the field with six three-pointers. The Wasps shot 83.3 percent (10-for-12) from the free throw line.
- Lincoln Memorial made 54.1 percent (33-of-61) of its shots, connecting on 11 shots from long range. The Lady Railsplitters took just nine shots from the stripe, making five of them (55.6%).
- E&H held a 33-29 rebounding advantage with 11 offensive boards, leading 11-6 on second-chance points. The Wasps also posted a 19-12 margin on points off turnovers.
- LMU led 40-34 on points in the paint.
