Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Faces Tennessee Tech In Exhibition Monday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Basketball Team got the 2024-25 season started on Monday evening with an exhibition contest against Tennessee Tech University (1-0). The Golden Eagles claimed the victory by an 82-54 margin.

How It Happened
- Tennessee Tech jumped out to a 15-5 lead at the 4:13 mark of the opening period. The Wasps held their own, closing the gap to 19-11 at the end of the quarter with a free throw by senior forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.).
- In the second, the Golden Eagles extended their lead to 18 at 32-14 with 6:20 on the clock but Emory & Henry held its own, finishing the half on a 10-6 run for a 38-24 margin at the intermission.
- E&H scored 10 of the first 14 points coming out of the locker room to close the margin down to eight points at 42-34 with 5:37 in the third. A 10-2 run by TTU pushed the advantage back out to 16 (52-36) just over two minutes later and the Golden Eagles would go into the final 10 minutes of play up 59-44.
- After the squads traded three-pointers to open the fourth, 11 straight points by Tennessee Tech extended the gap to 73-47. E&H and TTU went back and forth for the final minutes of the game as the Golden Eagles came away with the 82-54 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore guard Lyndie Ramsey (Elizabethton, Tenn.) led all players with 19 points, going 5-for-6 from three-point range and 4-for-4 at the free throw line. Senior guard Hannah Spainhour (King, N.C.) tallied 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Sophomore forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) put up seven points and four rebounds as sophomore guard Reagan Chapman (Rosman, N.C.) went for five points.
- Junior forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) contributed four points, five rebounds, four assists and four blocks.

Tennessee Tech Individual Leaders
- Chloe Larry posted 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals and Reghan Grimes went for 16 points, nine boards and four assists.
- Taris Thornton had 16 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks off the bench as Peyton Carter went for 11 points, six assists and two rebounds.

Up Next
   Emory & Henry will officially open the season on Friday at 1:00 p.m. when it faces off against Southern Wesleyan University. The contest will be part of the SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge on the campus of Mars Hill University.
