EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Basketball Team (2-1) broke open a three-point halftime contest, outscoring King (Tenn.) University, 45-24, after the break to pick up a 76-52 win over their border rival.

How It Happened
- King got out to a 5-0 lead in the first 1:16 of the game, but Emory & Henry responded with a 10-2 run to go ahead (10-7) with 5:55 on the clock. The Wasps pushed forward, outscoring the Tornado by a 12-4 margin for the remainder of the first to lead 22-11.
- In the second, King opened on an 15-5 run to close the gap to 27-26 with 4:47 to go before the intermission. E&H absorbed the press, taking a 31-28 lead into the locker room despite neither team scoring in the final 2:50 of the quarter.
- Returning to action, the Tornado cut the lead back to one (33-32) once again early in the period, but a 19-3 run by the Wasps got the margin out to 17 at 52-35 with 10 minutes left to play.
- The teams traded baskets early in the fourth quarter but King could get no closer than 15. An 8-2 run by Emory & Henry made it a 21-point contest at 68-47 with 2:59 to go in the game, as the Wasps closed with eight of the last 10 to win by a 76-52 margin.
Emory & Henry Leaders
- Senior forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) had a day, scoring 25 points on 12-for-16 shooting to go along with 12 rebounds, six steals and four assists. Junior forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) posted 14 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and two assists.
- Sophomore guard Rhyan Harris (Salem, Va.) tallied 11 points, five boards, two assists and two steals as sophomore forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) went for seven points and seven rebounds off the bench.
King (Tenn.) Individual Leaders
- Jaelyn West led the Tornado with 19 points off the bench, going 6-for-10 from the field, with four rebounds. Sarah Thompson posted 11 points, four rebounds and two assists.
- Le'Aije Ellington notched seven points and three rebounds while Mariya Williams went for four points, four boards and two blocks.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 42.5 percent (31-for-73) from the field, hitting nine three-pointers on the afternoon. The Wasps were five-of-six (83.3%) from the free throw line.
- King managed to hit just 19-of-57 (33.3%) of their shots with five makes from long range. The Tornado made 69.2 percent (9-of-13) of their trips to the stripe.
