
EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Basketball Team (3-1) shot 45.9 percent for the game and scored 44 points in the paint on its way to a 74-65 win over visiting Virginia Union University (2-2) Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The two teams battled to a 12-all tie through the first six-and-a-half minutes of play. Emory & Henry went on an 8-0 run for the remainder of the period to lead, 20-12.
- The first six minutes of the second period was all VUU as the Panthers posted a 20-4 scoring run to go ahead, 32-24. The Wasps responded going into the locker room with a 10-4 run to close the gap to 36-34.
- Coming out of the break, the two teams traded baskets before an 8-0 run by the Wasps gave them a 44-40 lead with 4:14 on the clock. A 12-5 scoring spurt by Virginia Union reversed the run for a 52-49 advantage with 1:09 remaining before five in a row by E&H to close the quarter made it a 54-52 Wasp lead.
- The squads continued to battle back and forth in the early part of the final frame. Emory & Henry took the lead for good (59-58) at the 8:46 mark when sophomore guard Reagan Chapman (Rosman, N.C.) hit a three-pointer. That shot started an 8-0 run that extended to a 15-7 offensive burst by the Wasps to close the game, 75-65.
Emory & Henry Leaders
- Senior forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) led the Wasps with another double-double, scoring 18 points and pulling down 12 rebounds, She added three steals, an assist and a block to her tally.
- Sophomore guard Rhyan Harris (Salem, Va.) had 15 points, five rebounds and four steals while sophomore forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) went for 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
- Senior center Chelsi Hodges (Boone, N.C.) contributed nine points and three rebounds off the bench as senior guard Hannah Spainhour (King, N.C.) had nine points, six rebounds and six assists.
Virginia Union Individual Leaders
- Taniyah Greene led the Panthers with 14 points, nine rebounds and two steals while Nevaeh Reaves scored 14 points and pulled in three rebounds.
- Brittini Martin posted 14 points and two boards off the bench while Tatiana Jones finished with six points and three rebounds.

- Emory & Henry went 28-for-61 (45.9%) from the field with four three-pointers. The Wasps were 14-for-18 (77.8%) at the free throw line.
- Virginia Union shot 41.9 percent (26-for-62) on the afternoon with three makes from beyond the arc. The Panthers were a lukewarm 10-of-18 (55.6%) from the charity stripe.
