
EMORY, Va. – The Coker University Women's Basketball Team (6-0, 4-0 SAC) shot 64.3 percent from the field in the second half on its way to a 77-60 win over Emory & Henry University (3-6, 0-5 SAC) Wednesday evening at the John Rutledge King Center.
Wasp senior forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) became the newest member of the 1,000-point club, hitting a layup at the 2:42 mark of the fourth quarter to accomplish the feat.

How It Happened
- The Cobras got out to an 8-0 lead at the 7:47 mark of the opening period, forcing an E&H timeout. Emory & Henry closed the gap to 10-7 thanks to a 7-2 run but Coker responded with eight of the next 10 points to close the quarter for an 18-9 advantage.
- Seven in a row by Coker to start the second extended its lead to 16 (25-9) with 6:57 on the clock. The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the half with the Cobras leading, 34-19, going into the locker room.
- In the third, Coker extended the lead to 46-26 with 5:41 to play but Emory & Henry went on a 14-6 run covering four minutes to close the gap to 12 at 52-40. The Cobras responded and took a 57-42 margin into the final quarter.
- Five of the first seven points of the fourth frame went the Wasps' way as they again got it down to a 12-point game (59-47). The Cobras began to pull away, leading by as much as 21 down the stretch at 77-56. E&H scored the final four points of the game to make it a 77-60 final contest.
Emory & Henry Leaders
- Junior forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) led the Wasps with 15 points and seven rebounds while Santoro had 13 points, four boards, three assists and three steals on her milestone night.
- Sophomore forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) had 13 points and four rebounds while senior guard Hannah Spainhour (King, N.C.) had six points, six rebounds and seven assists.
Coker Individual Leaders
- Dasia Ferguson went for a game-high 20 points with two rebounds, and two steals while Mya Wasswa tallied 16 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Kamari Thompson posted a double-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and four assists as Shawntenna Tillman chipped in 10 points, six steals, two rebounds and two assists.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 40.7 percent (24-for-59) for the game, hitting seven three-pointers. The Wasps went 5-for-7 (71.4%) at the free throw line.
- Coker hit 32-of-59 (54.2%) of its shot from the field with five triples. The Cobras were a lukewarm 57.1 percent (8-for-14) at the stripe.
- E&H held a 37-28 rebounding advantage but the two squads tied, 12-12, on second-chance points despite the Wasps leading, 15-7, on the offensive glass.
- Coker posted a 30-13 lead on points off turnovers, taking advantage of 24 Emory & Henry miscues. The Cobras also outscored the Wasps, 44-30, on points in the paint.
