
EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Basketball Team defeated former Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival University of Lynchburg, 74-52, in an exhibition contest Tuesday at home. The contest was dubbed the "Spainhour Showdown" as E&H senior guard Hannah Spainhour (King, N.C.) faced off against her sister, Bree, who is a junior for the Hornets.

How It Happened
- The teams traded baskets early before the Wasps scored 10 in a row to make it a 14-4 contest with 4:42 on the clock. Lynchburg closed the gap to 14-11, but E&H scored the final six points of the period to lead, 20-11.
- Early in the second, the Hornets closed the gap to four with 10 of the first 15 points. Emory & Henry responded to extend its lead to 35-25 at the intermission.
- The first four minutes of the third frame saw the Hornets close the gap to four points again (38-34) but a 17-4 run by E&H made it a 55-38 contest with 10 minutes left to play.
- The final period saw the Wasps continue to extend their lead, going up by 22 points (65-43) thanks to a 10-5 scoring spurt that covered the first 2:12 of the quarter. Lynchburg was unable to get any closer than 18 points the rest of the game as Emory & Henry cruised to the 74-52 victory.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) went for a triple-double, posting 18 points, 10 rebounds, 10 steals and three assists.
- Junior forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) scored a game-high 23 points on 10-for-16 shooting with three rebounds while sophomore forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) added five point, four rebounds and two assists.
- Sophomore guard Reagan Chapman (Rosman, N.C.) notched five points, two rebounds and two assists as freshman guard Tori West (Richmond, Va.) posted five points off the bench.
Lynchburg Individual Leaders
- Bree Spainhour paced the Hornets with nine points and seven rebounds as Brooke Cason went for eight points and three boards.
- Audra Petty contributed seven points while Olivia Harris chipped in six points and four assists.
