Anderson Women’s Basketball Outlasts Emory & Henry, 82-73, To Start 2025 Saturday

EMORY, Va. – The Anderson University Women's Basketball Team (9-6, 5-4 SAC) used a strong fourth quarter to pull away from Emory & Henry University (5-10, 0-9 SAC) for an 82-73 win Saturday in South Atlantic Conference action.

How It Happened
- The Trojans jumped out to a 10-2 lead at the 7:41 mark of the opening period, but a 10-5 scoring spurt by the Wasps made it a 15-12 contest three and a half minutes later. Anderson scored seven of the last nine points of the quarter to lead, 26-18.
- Early in the second, Emory & Henry went on a 13-5 run to tie the contest at 31 points apiece with 6:15 on the clock. AU scored the next seven but E&H battled back to make it a five-point contest, 44-39, at the intermission.
- Returning to action, the squads went back and forth for much of the third but the Wasps scored eight of the final 10 to cut the deficit to two, 61-59 with 10 minutes to play.
- The fourth frame saw the Trojans score 11 of the first 13 points to get out to a 72-61 advantage with 5:31 left. Emory & Henry got within six (77-71) with 1:23 to go, but Anderson went five-for-six at the free throw line down the stretch to seal the 82-73 win.

Emory & Henry Leaders
- Junior forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) led all players with 25 points, going 12-for-25 from the field, and added 11 rebounds and two blocks for a double-double.
- Sophomore forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) had a double-double of her own with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists while senior forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) went for 15 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists.
- Freshman guard Tori West (Richmond, Va.) chipped in 10 points, four assists and two rebounds off the bench.

Anderson Individual Leaders
- Rose Gravel led the Trojans with 21 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks while Zamiya Passmore tallied 16 points, six assists and six steals.
- Ashlyn Sheridan contributed 15 points, seven boards and five steals with Diamond McDowell going for seven points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry went 30-for-67 (44.8%) from the field and made four three-pointers. The Wasps shot 75 percent (9-for-12) at the free throw line.
- Anderson made just 38.7 percent (29-of-75) of their shots, also connecting on four triples. The Trojans were 20-for-29 (69%) at the stripe.
- AU held a 50-39 rebounding advantage and used 19 offensive boards to post a 22-7 lead in second-chance points.
- E&H led, 50-46, on points in the paint and tallied 23 assists on the afternoon.
- The Trojans forced the Wasps into 24 turnovers and scored 20 points off their miscues.
