EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Basketball Team (6-15, 1-14 SAC) saw 10 of the 11 players who suited up find their way into the scoring column Saturday afternoon on its way to an 86-46 shellacking of visiting Newberry College (5-14, 4-11 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference action.
Junior forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) reached the 1,000-point mark for her career during the contest, becoming the second Wasp this year to accomplish the feat. Additionally, it was largest margin of victory for E&H since beating Warren Wilson College by a 78-36 margin on January 31, 2022.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry jumped out to an 11-3 lead at the 7:30 mark of the opening quarter, pushing the margin to 21-8 with 3:19 on the clock with Yarber's 1,000th point. Five more by Yarber to close the period made it a 26-10 E&H advantage.
- Early in the second, Newberry trimmed the deficit to 12 (29-17), but a 9-3 run by the Wasps going into the intermission gave them a 38-20 lead.
- Returning to action, the Wolves scored five of the first seven to get within 15, but Emory & Henry reeled off a 26-6 run to extend the margin to 35 at 66-31 with 10 minutes left to play.
- E&H continued to put on the pressure early in the fourth, using a 12-4 run to lead 75-33 with 6:08 to play. The two squads traded buckets down the stretch as the Wasps were able to go to their bench, cruising to the 40-point win.
Emory & Henry Leaders
- Yarber posted game-highs with 22 points and 10 rebounds to complete the double-double while freshman guard Lyndie Ramsey (Elizabethton, Tenn.) notched 15 points off the bench.
- Sophomore forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) tallied 12 points, nine rebounds and two assists as senior forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) went for 11 points, six rebounds, four assists two steals and two blocks.
- Sophomore guard Rhyan Harris (Salem, Va.) added eight points, five rebounds and five assists off the bench and freshman guard Tori West (Richmond, Va.) tacked on seven points and two assists.
Newberry Individual Leaders
- Marykate Kent paced the Wolves with 10 points and three rebounds while Julia Paoletta had eight points.
- Ella Pearson went for five points, five rebounds and two steals with Sarah Ezell contributing six points and two boards.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 46.8 percent (29-for-62) for the game with 13 three-point baskets. The Wasps were electric from the line, hitting 15-of-18 (83.3%) of their attempts.
- Newberry was just 18-for-66 (27.3%) for the game with four triples. The Wolves struggled at the charity stripe, converting just 42.9 percent (6-of-14) of their chances.
- E&H held a 47-38 rebounding advantage and outscored the Wolves, 26-20, on points in the paint.
- The Wasps proved their unselfishness with 23 assists on the afternoon, accounting for 79 percent of their field goals.
