
EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Basketball Team (7-19, 2-18 SAC) scored the game-winning basket with five seconds remaining in overtime to take down visiting Lincoln Memorial University (9-13, 8-11 SAC) by a 63-62 score in South Atlantic Conference play. The contest also served as the Wasps' annual Play4Kay Game in support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

How It Happened
- E&H scored the first four points of the game, but the Lady Railsplitters battled back with a 15-4 run to lead, 15-8, with 1:04 in the opening period. The Wasps got the final basket of the quarter to make it a 15-10 contest.
- Four in a row by LMU to start the second pushed their advantage to 19-10 at the 8:05 mark. Emory & Henry went on a 10-0 run over a span of 3:43 to go up 20-19 as part of a larger 14-3 run for a 24-22 advantage at the intermission.
- Returning to action in the third, the Railsplitters scored five of the first seven to go back ahead, 27-26. Emory & Henry stayed right with the visitors, retaking the lead, 39-35, with 1:32 on the clock. LMU scored the last five of the frame to lead, 40-39, with one quarter left in regulation.
- Lincoln Memorial had the upper hand in the first five minutes of the fourth, leading 49-45 with 5:39 to go. The Wasps scored 10 of the final 16 points to make it a 55-all contest with 11 seconds to go. The Wasps had a final opportunity as time expired but the shot caromed off for overtime.
- In the extra five minutes, E&H hit back-to-back three-pointers to go ahead, 61-55 in the opening minute. LMU scored seven in a row to take a 62-61 lead with 22 seconds left, setting the Wasps up for the final possession. Senior guard Mimi Traynham (Richmond, Va.) found junior forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) with a lob pass that Yarber laid in with five seconds remaining. The Railsplitters could not get a shot off in their last chance as Emory & Henry claimed the 63-62 win.
Emory & Henry Leaders
- Yarber led all players with 22 points on 11-of-19 shooting, adding four rebounds while sophomore forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) went for a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
- Senior guard Hannah Spainhour (King, N.C.) had 16 points and two steals while senior forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.
- Traynham dished out eight assists to go along with four rebounds and two steals.
Lincoln Memorial Individual Leaders
- Caroline Sikkink had 16 points, making all seven of her field goal attempts, and added four rebounds while Alexa Smiddy went for 10 points, five rebounds, six assists and two steals.
- Kamil Collier had 10 points and three boards while Asia Barr tacked on nine points.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry made 45.2 percent (28-of-62) of its field goals attempts with four three-pointers. The Wasps went 3-for-4 (75%) at the free throw line.
- Lincoln Memorial shot 26-of-61 (42.6%) for the contest with eight three-pointers. The Railsplitters were 2-for-4 (50%) from the stripe.
- E&H held a 37-34 rebounding advantage and used 10 offensive boards to post a 14-5 lead on second-chance points. The Wasps also led, 48-30, on points in the paint.
- LMU outscored E&H, 10-6, on points off turnovers.
