
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman University Women's Basketball Team (20-6, 17-5 SAC) jumped out to a 15-point lead at the end of the first quarter on its way to an 84-68 win against Emory & Henry University (7-21, 2-20 SAC) Wednesday evening in South Atlantic Conference play.

How It Happened
- Carson-Newman stormed out to a 9-2 lead in the opening 90 seconds of the game. Later in the period, the Eagles used a 16-3 run spanning just under four minutes to push the margin to 25-9 on the way to a 33-18 lead after one quarter. The two squads traded baskets during the second frame with C-N taking a 52-36 advantage into the locker room.
- Returning to action, Emory & Henry started on a 14-4 run to close the gap to 56-50 with 4:09 on the clock. The Eagles responded with eight of the third's final 13 points to lead, 64-55, with 10 minutes left to play.
- Carson-Newman scored 17 of the first 21 points of the fourth to extend its advantage to 22 (81-59) with 3:56 remaining. Emory & Henry finished the game on a 9-3 run to close the gap to the final 84-68 margin.

- Junior forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) led the Wasps with 20 points, eight rebounds and two assists while sophomore forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) had 14 points, seven boards, three assists and two steals.
- Senior forward Emma Santoro (King, N.C.) had 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals with freshman guard Lyndie Ramsey (Elizabethton, Tenn.) tacking on 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals off the bench.
Carson-Newman Individual Leaders
- Lindsey Taylor shot 14-of-18 from the field for a game-high 28 points and added six rebounds while Jennifer Sullivan had 16 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
- Tori Rutherford scored 11 points, adding six rebounds and three steals while Karli Haworth went for 10 points and two steals off the bench.

- Emory & Henry shot 41.7 percent (25-of-60) for the game with eight makes from long range. The Wasps went 10-for-13 (76.9%) at the free throw line.
