Anderson Women’s Basketball Pulls Away From Emory & Henry, 76-58, Saturday Afternoon

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University Women's Basketball Team (19-9, 15-7 SAC) used a strong four quarter to pull away from Emory & Henry University (7-22, 2-21 SAC) Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference action.

How It Happened
- The two squads went back and forth early in the contest. Anderson went on a 10-0 run to lead 14-7 with 2:37 on the clock but the Wasps responded with 9-1 run to close the quarter for a 16-15 lead.
- E&H scored six of the first nine points of the second quarter to push its margin to 22-18 but an 11-2 run by the Trojans put them ahead, 29-24 with 3:39 to go before the intermission. Emory & Henry finished on a 10-5 run to tie things up 34-all at the break.
- Anderson started the third on a 13-2 run to go ahead, 47-36. Trailing by 13, the Wasps cut the deficit to eight at 53-45 with 10 minutes left to play.
- Emory & Henry scored the first five points of the fourth to make it a 50-53 contest but a 13-4 run by the Trojans pushed their advantage to 66-54. Ten in a row by Anderson down the stretch made it a 20 point game as the Wasps got the final basket of the game for the 76-58 final score.

Emory & Henry Leaders
- Junior forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) posted a double-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds and three assists while sophomore guard Rhyan Harris (Salem, Va.) added nine points, five rebounds and three steals off the bench.
- Senior guard Hannah Spainhour (King, N.C.) went for nine points, six rebounds and two assists as sophomore forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) finished with seven points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Anderson Individual Leaders
- Diamond McDowell scored a game-high 27 points and completed the double-double with 13 rebounds and two assists. Zamiya Passmore had 19 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
- Izzy Proffitt posted nine points and three rebounds off the bench while Peytyn Oliver went for seven points, six steals and three rebounds.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry went 23-for-67 (34.3%) from the floor with six three-pointers. The Wasps were a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line.
- Anderson shot 41.7 percent (30-for-72) for the game with five makes from long range. The Trojans made 11-of-15 (73.3%) of their free throw attempts.
- E&H held a 45-43 rebounding advantage but AU led, 38-30, on points in the paint.
- The Trojans posted a 21-8 lead on points off turnovers, taking advantage of 22 Wasp miscues.
