Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Golf Open The Spring At Hill City Invitational

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Golf Teams got the spring portion of their seasons off to a start on Monday and Tuesday, competing at University of Lynchburg's Hill City Invitational. The men's team finished seventh out of 10 competing schools, while the women competed as individuals.

The Men
- Junior Wesley Jones (Seymour, Tenn.) shot a 83-79 and junior Isfandyar Khan (Lahore, PAKISTAN) carded an 81-81 to finish tied for 17th at +18 for the tournament.
- Junior Christofer Schaff (Elizabethton, Tenn.) tied for 32nd at +24 (83-85) while junior Blake Benson (Knoxville, Tenn.) posted a score of 86-91 to sit in a tie for 39th.  Freshman Chase Maddox (Amherst, Va.) was 48th, shooting 95-91 to finish at +42.
- Averett University's Elias Haavisto torched the field, finishing at -6 for the tournament, seven strokes ahead of Methodist University's Sam Marshall.
- Methodist's "B" Team won the tournament, shooting a 307-303—610 (+15) while Averett was second at +39.

The Women
- Junior Chandler Thomas (Elizabethton, Tenn.) finished 12th for the event, shooting a 110-98 to finish at +64 while senior Ashley Underwood (Strawberry Plains, Tenn.) carded a 112-97 +65 which was good for 13th overall.
- Lynchburg's NoraNoel Nolan won the tournament, turning in a score of +19 as the Hornets claimed the top four spots on their way to the team title at +44.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will return to action in Virginia Wesleyan University's Marlin Invitational, to be held on Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22. The event will feature men's and women's teams and will take place at Cypress Point Country Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
