Emory & Henry Women’s Golf Finishes Fifth At The Deercroft Spring Break Invitational Tuesday

WAGRAM, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team finished in fifth place at the Deercroft Spring Break Invitational, hosted by St. Andrews University. Sophomore Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) led the Wasps as she finished tied for eighth place.

Day One - Monday
Sophomore Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) posted an opening round of 83 (+11) while freshman Lexi Humbert (Greeneville, Tenn.) was two shots back at 85 (+13).

Freshman Reece Chasteen (Lake City, Fla.) carded a 90 (+18) while sophomore McKenna Quillen (Abingdon, Va.) registered a 103.

Day Two – Tuesday
Smelcer notched a +15 (87) to finish in a tie for eighth place while Humbert had a round of 90 (+18) as she concluded the tournament in 14th.

Chasteen tied for 23rd overall with a second-round score of 93 (+21) while Quillen shot a 107 on Tuesday to finish 39th.

The Winners
The College of Coastal Georgia won the tournament at +87, putting three golfers in the top five. Methodist University's "B-Team" was second at +115.

Kristen Crooms of Coastal Georgia claimed medalist honors with a score of 154 (+10). Mars Hill University's Jalen Castle was the runner-up at +16 (160).
