Emory & Henry Women’s Golf 12th After Day One Of The Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team got the 2022-23 season started on Monday at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational, hosted by the College of Coastal Georgia. The Wasps currently sit 12th out of the 14-team field. E&H's score of 341 was the best four-person score in program history, topping the previous record by two shots.

Emory & Henry
Junior Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) leads the Wasps with a +9 (79) to sit tied for 40th after day one while freshman Katie Hall (Abingdon, Va.) is tied for 45th after shooting an 82 (+10).

Freshman Hannah Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) went for an 88 (+16) in Monday's round and is tied for 66th overall as sophomore Lexi Humbert (Greeneville, Tenn.) is currently tied for 73rd with a score of 90 (+18). Sophomore Briah Frisbee (Leicester, N.C.) rounded out the team with a 92 (+20) and is 76th overall.

The Leaders
Newberry College currently sits in the lead with a score of +9 (297). The Wolves' Noelia Adkins is atop the individual competition after firing a 69 (-3) on Monday.

Truett McConnell University is second with a +12 while Milligan University rounds out the top three at +14.

Individually, Southeastern University's Marlie Smit is second at even par (72) with a four-way logjam for third at +1.
