JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team completed its first tournament of the season on Tuesday, finishing 12th at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational. For a second day in a row, the Wasps shot a program-best team score, setting the new mark at 332, nine strokes better than Monday's round.

Emory & Henry
Freshman Katie Hall (Abingdon, Va.) shaved two shots off of her Monday round to post a 78 (+6) and finish tied for 34th (+16). Junior Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) carded an 82 (+10) on Tuesday, which was good for a +19 (T-44th) for the tournament.

Freshman Hannah Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) improved her score by six shots with a +12 (84) to claim a portion of 62nd place at +28 overall. Sophomore Lexi Humbert (Greeneville, Tenn.) posted an 88 (+16) completing the event at +34 (71st). Sophomore Briah Frisbee (Leicester, N.C.) went for a 92 (+20) for the second day in a row, finishing in a tie for 76th place (+40).

The Winners
Noelia Adkins of Newberry College retained her lead to take medalist honors with a score of -1 (64-74 – 143) while Ashleigh Mead of USC Beaufort jumped 16 places with a -3 (69) on Tuesday to finish at the runner-up at +1 (76-69 – 145).

Newberry picked up the team championship as well, breaking the 600-threshold at 297-301 – 598 (+13). The Wolves placed all five of their players in the top 20. Truett McConnell University was the runner up, finishing just three shots back at 601 (+16) following a score of 301 in round two.

Up Next
E&H will next compete alongside the Wasps' men's team on Monday, September 26 and Tuesday, September 27 at the King University Invitational. The tournament will take place at the Country Club of Bristol in Bristol, Tennessee.
