Emory & Henry Women’s Golf Finishes Eighth At King Invitational Tuesday

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team notched an eighth-place finish at the King Invitational on Tuesday. The Wasps tied the second-best score for a round in program history, shooting a 341 for the second day in a row.

Emory & Henry
Freshman Katie Hall (Abingdon, Va.) was two strokes better on Tuesday as she carded a 79 (+8) to finish tied for 13th overall (+18). Sophomore Lexi Humbert (Greeneville, Tenn.) finished the tournament in 29th place at +26 with an 87 (+16) in round two.

Junior Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) knocked two shots off of yesterday's round with a +14 (85) as she tied for 35th overall at +30 while freshman Hannah Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) had a 90 (+19) as she tied for 41st overall at +41.

Sophomore Briah Frisbee (Leicester, N.C.) shot a 91 (+20) in Tuesday's action, also completing the tournament tied for 41st (+41).

The Winners
Converse University won the team championship at +37 with four players in the top eight. The Valkyries were led by medalist Ava O'Sullivan who recorded rounds of 74 and 72 to shoot a +4 (146) for the tournament.

Converse's Stina Voigt and Tusculum University's Nilubol Panno were five strokes back tied for second place at +9 (151).

North Greenville University claimed the team runner-up spot with a score of +66.

Up Next
E&H will be back in action on Monday, October 3 when it beings play in The Scotch Invitational, hosted by St. Andrews University. The tournament will be played at Scotch Meadows Country Club in Laurinburg, North Carolina.
