Emory & Henry Women’s Golf On Top After Day One Of The Buzz Off Invitational Saturday

ABINGDON, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team has five of the six top players as it leads the Buzz Off Invitational.  The Wasps also set a new program record for a team score for 18 holes with a 325 (+37), beating the previous record by seven shots.

Emory & Henry
Freshman Katie Hall (Abingdon, Va.) posted a +3 (75) on her home course and sits at the top of the leaderboard while sophomore Lexi Humbert (Greeneville, Tenn.) is second at +9 (81).

Freshman Hannah Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) shot an 84 (+12) to sit in fourth while juniors McKenna Quillen (Abingdon, Va.) and Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) posted rounds of 85 (+13) and 86 (+14), respectively, which were good for fifth and sixth.

Sophomore Briah Frisbee (Leicester, N.C.) is currently eighth after carding a +16 (88).

The Leaders
Hall leads the field by three shots with her 75 (+3) while Humbert and UVA Wise's Julia Kessler are tied for second at 81 (+9).

E&H's score of 325 (+37) in Saturday's round puts the Wasps in a comfortable lead over the Cavaliers, who carded a +70 (358) as a team.
