Emory & Henry Women’s Golf Wins Buzz Off Invitational Sunday

ABINGDON, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team completed the fall portion of its season on Sunday by picking up a win at the Buzz Off Invitational at Glenrochie Country Club. The Wasps had the top three players in the field, led by freshman Katie Hall (Abingdon, Va.), who earned her first collegiate medalist honors.

Emory & Henry
Hall tied her own 18-hole record of 74 (+2) on Sunday to become the first player in program history to shoot below 150 for a tournament. She completed the event at +5 (75-74 – 149).

Sophomore Lexi Humbert (Greeneville, Tenn.) notched an 88 (+16) for the second round to finish as the runner-up at +25 (81-88 – 169) while freshman Hannah Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) was third overall with her own round of 88 to finish at +28 (84-88 – 172).

Juniors Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) and McKenna Quillen (Abingdon, Va.) carded a 91 and a 92, respectively to finish in a tie for sixth place at +33.

Sophomore Briah Frisbee (Leicester, N.C.) finished ninth overall at +42 (88-98 – 186) to round out the Wasps.

The Winners
In addition to Hall tying the E&H program record for 18 holes and setting a new mark at 149 for a two-round tournament, E&H posted a program-best two-day team score of +90 (325-341 – 666).

Hall won by 20 strokes while the Wasps defeated the University of Virginia's College at Wise by 51 shots.
