Emory & Henry Women’s Golf Finishes As Runner-Up At Alice Lloyd Fall Invitational Tuesday

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team posted a second-place finish at the Alice Lloyd Fall Invitational on Tuesday with a program-record team score. The Wasps shot a +34 (610) with rounds of 301 and 309 to break the previous 36-hole mark by 40 strokes.

Additionally, sophomore Katie Hall (Abingdon, Va.) finished as the tournament's runner-up, carding a school-record +2 (73-73—146) with two of the program's three best-ever rounds.

Emory & Henry
Hall shot a 73 (+1) for the second day in a row, moving up two places to take runner-up honors at +2. Freshman Abby Bradley (Castlewood, Va.) shot a +6 (78) to take fourth at +4 in her first collegiate tournament.

Junior Lexi Humbert (Greeneville, Tenn.) made it back-to-back rounds of 78 (+6) to sit in sixth place while junior Briah Frisbee (Leicester, N.C.) notched an 83 (+11) which was good for seventh place in the field. Senior Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) trimmed three shots off Monday's round, shooting an 80 (+8) to remain ninth overall.

The Winners
University of Pikeville jumped ahead of Emory & Henry to take the team title by just four strokes. The Bears turned in rounds of 308-298—606 to finish the tournament at +30.

E&H's round of 309 (+21) on Tuesday was five shots better than the previous record for 18 holes entering the event as the Wasps combined that with a +13 (301) on Monday to complete the event at +34 (610), 40 shots better than the previous tournament record.

UPike's Carly Crooks held onto the lead, carding the low round of the tournament on Tuesday at -1 (71) to finish the tournament at -1 (72-71—143). Hall was three strokes back at +2 as the runner-up.

Emory & Henry returns to action in two weeks at the King University Invitational. The tournament will be held at Golf Club of Bristol in Bristol, Tennessee, running from Monday, September 25 to Tuesday, September 26.
