Emory & Henry Women’s Golf Takes Runner-Up Honors At Barton Intercollegiate Tuesday

WILSON, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team kept the year rolling on Monday and Tuesday as it finished in second place at the Barton Intercollegiate. The Wasps saw two players finish in the top 10 individually.

Round One
Sophomore Katie Hall (Abingdon, Va.) shot a +4 (76) on Monday to sit in second place while freshman Abby Bradley (Castlewood, Va.) carded a 78 (+6) which was good to tie for fourth.

Junior Lexi Humbert (Greeneville, Tenn.) turned in an 80 (+8) and was in 10th place after 18 holes. Junior Briah Frisbee (Leicester, N.C.) went for a +16 (88) at T-23rd as senior Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) tied for 29th with a +18 (90).

Round Two
Hall shot an 81 (+9) during the second round, falling one spot to third place at +13 (157) while Bradley finished in a tie for ninth place at +22 (78-88 – 166).

Humbert finished in a tie for 18th place at +31 after shooting a 95 (+23) on Tuesday as Frisbee moved up three spots with her second 88 in a row to shoot a 176 (+32) and finish tied for 20th.

Smelcer placed 23rd in the tournament, notching a +15 (87) in the second round for a +33 (177).

The Winners
Coker University claimed the team title at +59 (313-322 – 635) with three players in the top eight. The Wasps were 31 shots behind at +90 as the team runner-up.

CU's Daniella Gyoni took home medalist honors, shooting a +9 (77-76 – 154) beating teammate Felicia Sundgren by one shot (+10).

Up Next
Emory & Henry will travel to Richmond, Kentucky on Saturday and Sunday for the Alice Lloyd Spring Invitational. The tournament will take place at Battlefield Golf Course.
