SALISBURY, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team opened the 2024 South Atlantic Conference Championship on Sunday and sits in ninth place after 18 holes of play. This year, the tournament is being hosted by Catawba College at The Country Club of Salisbury.

Sophomore Katie Hall (Abingdon, Va.) is in a four-way tie for 11th at 75 (+4) while freshman Abby Bradley (Castlewood, Va.) shot a 79 (+8) to sit in a three-way knot for 29th.
Senior Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) is tied for 49th at +13 (84) while junior Briah Frisbee (Leicester, N.C.) shot an 88 (+17) to tie for 54th. Junior Lexi Humbert (Greeneville, Tenn.) is 56th at +18 (89).
The Leaders
Anderson University leads the tournament through round one with a score of +5 (289). The Trojans have the individual leader as well as two of the three players that are tied for second place. Catawba and Wingate University are tied for second place at +18 (302).
AU's Kennedy Gooding leads the field at even par (71). Zoey Iglesias and Aly Francis from Anderson along with Wingate's Jess Brown are one stroke behind at +1 (72).
